  • The space that requires heating, always choose a fireplace that can heat your area appropriately.
  • Research which fireplaces will suit all your needs best. Speak to professionals like us about what you would like.
  • Determine if you prefer wood burning or a gas option. Familiarise yourself with the difference between the two.
  • Work out the costs of wood burning versus the gas option if you need to be conscientious of a budget.
  • Consider whether you would prefer a built-in option or a freestanding one.
  • Familiarise yourself with all the required maintenance and cleaning matters that accompany your fireplace.
  • Choose a fireplace that will resonate with your building style and décor requirements.
  • Consider a closed combustion fireplace if your home or establishment has children on the premises. Safety is paramount.
  • Decide on the type of fireplace you would most like – a cast iron or plate steel one?
  • Weigh up price versus quality and make the most informed decision regarding your heating and budget needs.
  • Ensure you choose the correct kilowatt fireplace according to the cubic metres of the room you need heated. Typically, 1kw is needed for every 25m³.

Cleaning of the fireplace and chimney sweeps

Once you have decided on which fireplace to install, you will need to familiarise yourself with the necessary cleaning practices. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure that you get the very best out of your fireplace for years to come.
  1. Chimney sweeping should be done at least annually.
  2. Schedule cleaning and maintenance before the winter months.
  3. Use a professional maintenance company or contractor to do professional chimney sweeping. Save our number to do just this!
  4. Always follow the manufacturers guidelines and instructions when caring for and cleaning your fireplace.
